Covers wins timber industry award at virtual ceremony

Covers Timber & Builders Merchants has been named Timber Merchant of the Year at the third annual BMJ Industry Awards 2020.

Organised by the Builders Merchants Journal, the awards aim to celebrate the UK merchanting industry and highlight the businesses, brands and people that make the sector so successful.

The ceremony, which was originally scheduled to take place in London, was instead hosted as a live-stream event by Alan Dedicoat, better known as the National Lottery’s Voice of the Balls.

Family-owned Covers, which has been operating for over 170 years, has a chain of depots across the south of England providing a variety of woods, bespoke mouldings, sheet materials and treatments. Its fast and modern sawmill produces thousands of metres of stock profiles per week as well as custom-made mouldings, which have been supplied to numerous historical buildings, including Arundel Castle, Goodwood House and Windsor Castle.

Neil Woods, Timber Director of Covers, said:

“We are extremely proud of our timber services, which have been built on providing our customers with an unrivalled range of quality timber, expert knowledge and exceptional service. We are delighted to be recognised by the industry as Timber Merchant of the Year and congratulate our whole team for their hard work and commitment to Covers and our customers.”
