Barratt buys timber frame firm to boost offsite
Housebuilder Barratt has bought timber frame manufacturer Oregon Timber Frame as it attempts to fulfil its pledge to build at least 20% of its homes using an element of modern methods of construction by 2020.
Oregon is already one of Barratt’s key suppliers and will remain based in Selkirk, Scotland, following the deal, which sees Barratt acquire 100% of the business.
Over the last three years, Barratt has built around 5,500 homes using timber frame construction. It currently uses timber frame in the majority of residential properties it builds in Scotland and said it was increasing its use across England and Wales.
